lyrics

Sitting atop an empty overpass
Passing thoughts of our future and past
Watching men that look like me light boosters
I wonder if it's the end or the start
Looking out across the world we molded in our image
Complete with our fears and our limits
I heard the speeches, I pricked my ears to listen
Great men telling of a future envisioned
Lay wishing, through a window behold the stars
When I was young, thinking they were ours
Or maybe I thought they were mine
What a laugh

Rising up steel and skeleton frames
Connected by the veins and wires
Climbing the spires and food chains
Rock and soil given birth to the gods
And gargoyles, interlocked with our toil
and sense of betrayal
Taking control, molding the clay
We’ll sit aloft our work and spoils one day
”Who are we to not get what we earned?”
He muttered, as it all burned
“Who are you?” She blurted, simply worded
”Who are the rest? Take a guess, just your best”
His hands trembling as he clawed at his chest, his skin
”I’m devine, true, deserving and pure”
She cried, “you’re lost, deceived and sick with no cure”
”You count your blessings and run”
He whimpered, “Are we not the towering ones?”
“Only to fall, may we live in the rubble” she said
“Would gods have been a little more humble”

From Lucas to Kubrick, I’m feeling lucid
With the swell of the music, like cupid
Nock a proton bolt to my chest
I’m feeling romantic
Living movie magic
Over again in my head
Blissfully living blind and deaf
If I want to be so optimistic
Time to get dramatic
A little extreme
Like they do on the movie screens
Fuck the small step at a time
One small step for who?
